Littlemill 20 Jahre 1991 Whisky-Doris

Die Littlemill Distillery wurde 1772  in den Lowlands bei Glasgow gegründet und war die älteste Destille Schottlands. Sie produzierte bis 1992 und wurde 1996 teilweise demontiert. Die Whiskys sind überwiegend leicht, frisch und fruchtig. Dieses Fass hat uns durch seine Eleganz und Fruchtigkeit sofort begeistert!

An der Nase zeigt dieser Littlemill eine vanillige Süße, Honigmelone, Mango und Johannisbeeren – vielschichtig und super lecker. Der kräftige Antritt im Mund efolgt zunächst mit Beerenfrüchten, exotischen Früchten und Gewürzen, danach eine frische (See-)Brise mit süßem Torf – wow! Sehr lecker, elegant und vielschichtig! Das Finish ist lang, torfig-wärmend und fruchtig-elegant - was für ein Lowlander!

Tipp: auch dieser Abfüllung sollten Sie einige Zeit zum Atmen geben, damit sich alle Aromen zeigen können - es lohnt sich! Dieser sehr leckere Littlemill ist nicht mehr verfügbar. Das Frontlabel schmückt das Aquarell "Schottlands Küste"  von Kunstmaler Horst Manthée (Hotte). Es zeigt eine typische Küstenlandschaft bei Glasgow.

Littlemill 20 yo 1991/2012 (49%, Whisky-Doris, cask #554, 132 bottles) Colour: white wine. Nose: starts nervous, green very citrusy, it’s almost grapefruit juice at first nosing. Becomes a tad rounder after that, with more watermelons, peaches, all that being pleasantly coated with vanilla and acacia honey. A nice greenness remains in the background and keeps it ‘nervous’ (green apples) while there’s even a little smoke, somewhat Ardmore-ish. Mouth: crisp and zesty attack but there’s also quite some vanilla and touches of not-too-ripe strawberries. Then more spices, cinnamon, white pepper… Classic zesty Littlemill, with just a faint sourness in the background (apples). Finish: long and even spicier now, with again a little smoke and ashes ala Ardmore. Comments: ex-Islay cask? Anyway, another top notch Littlemill. Where have they all been? SGP:562 - 88 points.

Littlemill 20 yo 1991/2012 (49%, Whisky-Doris, cask #554, 132 bottles)  Nose: balancing between sharper notes (wet sand, lemon juice, a little peat) and rounder notes (apricots and vanilla). Honeydew melon. Hay. A peppery herbal note in the background, which keeps the whole punchy and assertive. Mouth: nicely candied citrus, plenty of pink grapefruits, then growing warming and sweeter towards papaya, strawberry and creamy vanilla. Some mineral / coastal notes and a spicy wave to finish it off (pepper, cinnamon). Nice evolution. Finish: long, with the spices in the foreground, a hint of peat and some coffee beans in the background. All-round Littlemill. Coastal, fruity, zesty notes… it goes in different directions but it’s very rewarding overall. I still like the sherried versions better but this is very high quality as well. Score: 89/100.
