Dieser 13jährige Glengoyne stammt aus einem first fill Sherry Butt und wurde mit 46% abgefüllt. In der Nase ist er zunächst deutlich nussig, schikoladig und Honig-süß, danach zeigt er dunkle Früchte (Feige, Backpflaume) und Weihnachtsgewürze. Der Duft ist sehr intensiv, vielschichtig und lecker. Im Mund erfolgt zunächst ein sehr kerniger Antritt mit unterschiedlichsten Nuss-, Honig- und Schokolade - Aromen, danach folgen die Frucht- und Gewürz - Aromen, die von einem angenehmen Holzeinfluss begleitet werden. Das ganze ist wunderbar balanciert, komplex und immer auch von einer schönen Süße (Honig) begleitet - ein sehr komplexer und, leckerer Glengoyne! Das Finish ist für eine Abfüllung mit 46% ungewöhnlich lang und intensiv, dabei allerdings sehr ausgewogen und super angenehm - ein toller, junger Glengoyne!

Glengoyne 13 yo 1997/2010 (46%, Whisky-Doris, The Dram, sherry butt, 120 bottles) Four stars

Colour: pale amber. Nose: starts on a rather dry, flinty kind of ‘sherryness’, with notes of ‘new Barbour jacket’ (right, right) and hints of peach liqueur. More fruitcake then, chocolate, cherry stem tea, walnuts, leather… No bomb but I like this kind of ‘dry balance’ in a sherry butt. Hints of Turkish delights and rosewater coming through after a few minutes. It’s also a little earthy and rooty. Mouth: rich and fruity, with notes of orange blossom water and, well, plain oranges. Oh, and orange squash. Also plums, then more black pepper, bitter chocolate and maybe a little green curry. All that’s coated with some honey and a little nutmeg. Gets then grassier, drier… Finish: long, still unusually grassy for a sherry butt. Tea, tannins. Some lemon in the aftertaste. Comments: very good, with the butt’s wood having been more active than its… sherry. A slightly dry and rough-ish profile that goes well with Glengoyne in my opinion. SGP:551 - 86 points.

Nose: clean sherry with hints of walnut liqueur, lovely mirabelles and figs. Nice balance between sweet and sour notes and a faint yeasty undertone. Cinnamon. A floral note as well. Mouth: sherry but not really thick or heavy. A lot of nutty aromas shine through, as well as a fair amount of wood, which makes it a tad dry and herbal. Big notes of (slightly bitter) orange peel and orange water. Finish: medium length, dry, herbal yet still with a faint sour edge. An interestingly different Glengoyne. I really like the profile but it seems the oak was really powerful. Score: 86/100
