Bunnahabhain wurde 1881 gegründet und produziert einen leichten Malt Whisky mit unterschiedlichem Torfgehalt. Die Destille liegt in Port Askaig direkt an der Nordostküste der Insel Islay. Dieses Bourbon Hogshead hat uns durch seine große Eleganz, Reife und Komplexität überzeugt! An der Nase zeigt dieser Bunnahabhain eine spannende Mischung aus exotischen Früchten, Hafenkante, Meeresbrise und leichtem Rauch- und Torf - sehr lecker und elegant! Im Mund erfolgt ein würzig-nussiger Antritt mit salziger Brise, dann süße Fruchtaromen mit schöner Öligkeit, sehr geschmeidig, vielschichtig, komplex und lecker! Im Finish zeigt er eine schöne salzig-frische Meeresbrise mit süßen Früchten und einem Hauch Torf – ein toller Bunnahabhain! Tipp: diesem alten Bunnahabhain sollten Sie besonders viel Zeit zum Atmen geben, damit sich alle Aromen zeigen können - es lohnt sich! Diese Abfüllung ist nicht mehr verfügbar. Das Frontlabel schmückt ein Aquarell von Kunstmaler Horst Manthée (Hotte). Es zeigt eine aktuelle Ansicht der Bunnahabhain Distillery, die es als handsignierten Druck in DIN A4 für 15 Euro gibt! Beurteilung von Ruben Luyten (www.whiskynotes.be):Nose: starts fairly simple on fragrant oranges and sea breezes. After opening up, the fruitiness widens into orange peel, fruit cake, hints of vanilla. The sea breeze develops into a big saltiness and all-round spiciness. Some leather and nutmeg as well. Mouth: not overly powerful, but punchy enough and very complex. There are nutty notes, fruity notes (even hints of coconut and tropical fruits), a beer-like malty note, eucalyptus oil, a leathery note again, liquorice… and again big coastal elements. Finish: medium long, half sweet / half salty with biscuity notes, soft peat and ginger. Not an easy one to assess, but a very complex and proudly coastal Bunnahabhain. Take your time and enjoy. full gold. Nose: starts with a camphory fruitiness, something slightly
medicinal (antiseptic) and whiffs of seaweed and oysters as well as a
little raw wool. In other words, very ‘Islay’. Goes on with hessian,
coal smoke and oranges, then eucalyptus. Great nose, very expressive
yet complex and not very ‘Bunnahabhain’. No problems! Mouth: starts
peppery and grassier than on the nose but gets much fruitier after a
few seconds. Orange drops and cardamom, with a wee saltiness and a
little green tea and tobacco. Also other tropical fruits, maybe a
little mango chutney… Finish: long, a notch bitterer, capsicum, cloves
and oranges. Smoky aftertaste. This from an ex-peated cask? Comments:
excellent in my opinion, only some roughish edges will prevent it to
make it to the 90 mark. Interesting peatiness. SGP: 553 - 89
